Empower Yourself with a Boudoir Shoot

When I used to hear the word boudoir, I would immediately think of images of women looking to surprise their partner with suggestive photos to spark a flame or give as a gift. Not intended for all eyes, the prints live shyly in boxes tucked away, sometimes forgotten altogether.

It’s inspired me to change the purpose of boudoir photos. I want yours displayed proudly and prominently. I also want you to take them for you.

I know the idea of scant clothing and a camera lens pricks some shy nerves. Many of my clients will tell me they don’t like having their photo taken even in a parka and ski pants, let alone a leotard! So why would anyone do this and why would you do it just for yourself? The answer: it is shockingly fun and, I promise, it is more empowering than you would expect.

“Having a boudoir photo shoot was a most amazing gift. Stephanie and her team made it such a fun and comfortable day for me. I am very thankful for the experience and think a boudoir shoot is a wonderful way for women to gain more self confidence.”-…

It’s like getting ready for a big date--out on the town (especially right now, after living in leggings for a year). You’re kind of nervous but you can’t wait to get ready. With your favorite music blasting, you take some time for you: indulging in a luxuriously long shower, blowing your hair out, applying makeup, selecting some sexy undergarments and slipping into an outfit that fits every inch of you just right. You believe you do it to impress your date, but you really do it so you walk out the door feeling good and beaming with confidence. (Side note: putting on fabulous clothes, self-care and pampering are other things you can and should do just for you. The benefits are day-week-year changing.)

That is the environment we emulate during boudoir shoots. There is so much good energy filling the studio. Walking in the door--and even earlier during the shoot planning--you are enveloped in a loving, buoyant atmosphere. I can practically see my clients leaving their nerves on the dressing room floor as my team pampers and styles them into looks that evoke sexiness and, more importantly, confidence. Positive reinforcement fills the room as I pose you in ways that compliment your body, highlight your best features and leave you standing tall.

I encourage you to do a boudoir shoot just for you to celebrate yourself first and to recognize the brilliant things you and your body do everyday. Your partner probably won’t mind either. Wink wink. Our goal for the session is to create images that deserve space on your walls or in a beautiful album (helpful tip: in our planning sessions we can talk about the types of images and gallery wall layouts you are envisioning and then take images that nail that vision!). The prints serve as proud reminders that you are a strong and beautiful human being.
