Stephanie Alvarez Ewens is a documentary photographer based in Providence, Rhode Island. She began her photographic career in California studying under photojournalist and writer Ken Kobre at San Francisco State University after receiving a B.A. in Economics from Santa Clara University. In the spring of 2008, she completed the graduate program at The Salt Institute for Documentary Studies for Photography, www.salt.edu. While in California, she worked for two San Francisco Bay Area papers and since moving to Rhode Island in 2003, her images have appeared in many local publications including Providence Business News, Rhode Island Monthly and Edible Rhody. Her work includes editorial, commercial, wedding and event photography and lies in her interest and ability to tell other people’s stories through images.  Her clients include New York Times, RISD, Brown University, Business Innovation Factory, (add)ventures, Cornish Associates, PASA, RIECD, Institute for the Study and Practice of Nonviolence, Providence Tourism Council, the Providence Preservation Society, Creative Circle Media Services, and many local artists and designers. She also runs a photo agency with  Providence photograher, Scott Lapham of AS220/Broad St. Studios, working with local youth as assistants, colabphoto.com.
